    CHAKWERA’S 2063 VISION TAKING SHAPE

    In line with Vision 2063 which was launched by president Lazarus Chakwera, the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development through the Department of Physical Planning has started consultations with different stakeholders to shape the layout of the future development and use of land inside and outside Capital Hill.

    According to the information accessed on his Facebook wall, Kawale met with the Director General of National Planning Commission (NPC) Thomas Munthali to discuss issues regarding the layout of the Capital Hill among other issues.

    ‘’Recently, I hosted Dr Thomas Munthali, the Director General at National Panning Commission of Malawi. We discussed issues including development of eight new Secondary Cities in Malawi, which I will update you about soon, and the finished layout of Capital Hill,” said Kawale

    Kawale disclosed that his Ministry is finalizing assessing and compensating individuals for the land earmarked for the construction of Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) offices and its warehouse near Kamuzu International Airport.

    So far, the Ministry has allocated land for the construction of offices for the Malawi Planning Commission, Anti-Corruption Bureau and MACRA.

    Government has been spending K10.9 Billion yearly paying for rentals to house its Agencies, Departments and Ministries. Once this project is completed government will save some costs it has been incurring over the years.
