President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera says his government is working hard to rectify different challenges people are facing in this country when accessing different government services.
The President was speaking on Saturday was speaking at the Umhlangano Wa Maseko Ngoni ceremony in Ntcheu district.
The Malawi leader also cited a number of challenges Malawians are facing including security which prevents people from walking around walkable distances in vicinities such like trading centers.
“I also know of the problem of security lapses in the district, to the point that people are afraid to even walk around the trading center in the evening. I know of the problem of access to government service, starting with NEEF loans, which some people here are being unjustly denied access to based on the political party they support. The same applies to the anxiety you all feel about whether you will be able to access fertilizer at a subsidized price through the AIP programme this year,” said President Chakwera.
President Chakwera also spared a moment to commend Inkosi ya Makosi Gomani V for his continued efforts in spearheading different projects in his kingdom.
The Malawi leader said Inkosi Gomani has been championing different initiatives aimed at complementing governments efforts of improving the plight of Malawians.
He said: “However, Your Majesty, I want to commend you that while these problems exist and while you are counting on us to address them, you have insisted that the right response for you and your communities is to contribute towards making Malawi better”
This year’s Umhlangano wa Ngoni Maseko Annual Festival coincided with the 10 year anniversary of Inkosi ya Makosi Gomani V.
