President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera says all Malawians must practice God’s word and have a new mindset so as to get the country on the right trajectory of development.
Speaking earlier today in Lilongwe when he participated in Way of the Cross service, the President challenged the gathering to have a new orientation of mind if Malawi is going to achieve its long term development goals.
“It is only when we change our minds and do what God says that this country is going to be transformed. All of us must practice this renewal and we must practice God’s word in all endeavors so that the country gets back on track towards meaningful development,” he said.
The 2024 Way of the Cross ceremony was commemorated under the theme ‘Revive Us’. The annual procession is organised by Way of the Cross and incorporates all Christian denominations.
The day’s events comprised two processions, one from Lilongwe Community Ground and another from Kanengo.
The President joined one of the two processions from City Centre roundabout on the Presidential Drive all the way to Botanic Gardens where the two processions converged.
The Malawi leader took his turn to carry the cross for the last half kilometre. At the Botanic Gardens, the procession yielded into a service of worship in which President Chakwera read the scripture.
