In his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Malawi Defence Force (MDF), President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera on Saturday conferred Post Graduate Diplomas and Passed Staff Certificates to senior officers that are passing out as the first cohort of the Command and Staff College in Salima.
In his remarks, the President reaffirmed his commitment towards improving the welfare of the Malawi Defense Force officers.
President Chakwera said that his government’s steadfastness in improving the plight of the military officers stems from the acknowledgement of the sacrifices they make in defending the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of this country.
“Government commitment to improving the living conditions of our service members remains strong. After all, it is those whose who are prepared put themselves in harm’s way to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country who must be our greatest support,” said President Chakwera.
He added: “The Malawi leader said his Administration’s continued support to the MDF is in line with his vision of building a highly trained and suitably trained defense force.
“As such, I and my Administration will continue giving the MDF the support and resources it needs to move closer and closer to the realizations of our needs of our visions to build an appropriately sized, highly trained, and suitably equipped military force.”
The twenty graduating officers have been awarded with post graduate Diplomas and Certificates after undergoing a forty-six weeks training in areas such as tactical planning leadership. This has been the first ever training of the kind in the country.
