Leader of Opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa was Monday morning summoned to Police Headquarters in Lilongwe to be questioned over the house he dubiously bought from the Tobacco Commission in 2018.
Deputy National Police Spokesperson Harry Namwaza confirmed that the police are investigating reports of Nakhumwa’s involvement in the matter.
Last week police arrested former Tobacco Commission Chief Executive Officer, Kaisi Sadala, on the same issue. He is currently Sadala on bail.
Nankhumwa has of late been battling to clear his name in connection with a dubious Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) that he has used to climb up the political ladder.
People who know Nankhumwa from way back say the certificate does not belong to him but his classmate George Malemia who died soon after sitting for MSCE exams.
Recently Nakhumwa obtained a Doctorate Degree from a diploma mill known as Atlantic University.
Nankhumwa has also been involved in leadership battle with former president Peter Mutharika which has caused divisions in the former ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
