The Anti-Corruption Bureau-ACB has disclosed that it is now fully investigating Saulos Chilima’s UTM over 44 cars that were procured in a manner that raised eyebrows as it is viewed as corrupt in nature.
Private citizen, Gosten Chinseu months ago lodged a complaint at ACB asking for an investigation into matter.
The bureau says it has found merit in the request and has launched a full investigation in the matter. Reports indicate that the 44 cars were registered in the name of Khwesi Msusa who is Chilima close friend. ACB spokesperson, Egrita Ndala, says that after reviewing the complaint by one Gosten Chinseu , the bureau finds merit for action on the same.
Governance expert, George Phiri, has welcomed the decision saying it will clear suspicions around the procurement of the said vehicles.
The investigation comes at a time the Vice President is entangled in a corruption scandal having being mentioned by the ACB and British National Crime Agency as a direct beneficiary of Zuneth Sattar’s money.
Following these revelations, Chilima was stripped off of any delegated duties by President Lazarus Chakwera.
